MTP/MPO Fiber Connector Fanout Cable - 40G/100G MTP to LC Breakout Cable

Independent verification and tests have continually reinforced the MTP connector as offering superior over-life performance when compared to standard MPO connectors. This higher performance has resulted in wide adoption by fiber cabling manufacturers, as well as switch, server and storage manufacturers.

MPO MTP Cable Overview

New Light 40G parallel networks are created by combining MPO trunk cables and MPO patch cables via MPO adapter modules. Direct connection between two 40G or 100G ports can also be made using the same MPO patch cable.

Typically, these cables use an MPO 12-fiber connector and 12-fiber cable. While SR4 40G or 100G Ethernet only uses 8 fibers, the advantage of 12-fiber cables is their compatibility with duplex 10G networking, offering greater flexibility with negligible cost difference.

MPO MTP Cable Applications

Multimode (OM3 or OM4 50/125) Fiber Applications:

Connect directly between two QSFP+ transceivers for 40GBase-SR4
Connect directly between two QSFP28 transceivers for 100GBase-SR4
Connect to MPO trunk cables

Singlemode (OS1 or OS2 9/125) Fiber Applications:

Connect directly between two QSFP+ PLR4 (LR4 PSM) transceivers for 40G Ethernet
Connect directly between two QSFP28 PLR4 (LR4 PSM) transceivers for 100G Ethernet
Connect to MPO trunk cables

Both multimode and singlemode patch cords typically feature polarity B and female connectors.
