This specialized mode conditioning fiber optic patch cord combines single mode and multi-mode fiber technologies. The cable features two multi-mode ST connectors with one SC UPC single mode connector and one SC PC multi-mode connector.
The main cable utilizes multi-mode fiber optic cable conditioned with a short section of single mode fiber optic cable for optimal performance in Gigabit Ethernet applications.
For gigabit LX switches equipped with SC or ST connectors, connect the single-mode side to the transmit side and the multi-mode fiber side to the receive side of the equipment. This configuration must be maintained on both ends, with transmit/receive swapping only possible at the cable plant side.
New Light manufactures standard and customized length 50/125, 62.5/125 and OEM equivalent mode conditioning fiber optic patch cords for 1000BASE-LX/LH Gigabit Ethernet (1300nm long wavelength) applications installed into existing multi-mode cable plants.
These specialized cords prevent Differential Mode Delay (DMD) effects that can occur when long wave transceiver modules operate at both single-mode and multi-mode wavelengths. Available with FC, ST, SC, LC and MT-RJ connectors.
The conditioning patch cord addresses the single-mode launch nature of LX or long-wave (1300nm) transceiver modules used for Gigabit Ethernet. By offsetting the single-mode launch away from the center of a multi-mode fiber, it eliminates multiple signals that can confuse receivers, creating a launch similar to typical multi-mode LED launches.
