3.0 Mm MPO MTP Cable Fiber Connector, 8 Strand Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable

Cable Assemblies' MTP and MPO connectors can hold up to 12 fibers or 6 duplex channels. The compact design of the MPO/MTP connectors allow for high-density connections between network equipment. MTP/MPO fiber cables feature single mode or multimode function. Connectors for single-mode fiber have angled ends to minimize back-reflection, while multimode fiber versions typically have flat ends. MTP is a brand name for a version of the MPO connector with improved specifications.

For both multimode and singlemode applications, these patch cords typically have polarity B and feature female connectors.

MPO MTP Cable Overview

New Light 40G parallel networks are created by combining MPO trunk cables and MPO patch cables via MPO adapter modules. Direct connection between two 40G or 100G ports can also be made using the same MPO patch cable. All these products are found within our M400 Series.

Typically, these cables use an MPO 12 fibre connector and 12 fibre cable. However, in the transmission of SR4 40G or 100G Ethernet only 8 fibres within these cables are used. The advantage of using 12 fibre cables (as opposed to 8 fibre) is that the cabling is often used alongside duplex 10G networking, offering greater flexibility with negligible cost difference.
