Product Description
Product Overview

This G.703 balun converter matches the 75 Ohm unbalanced coax interface of E1 / T1 equipment to the 120 Ohm balanced twisted-pair interface used by routers, multiplexers and structured cabling. One RJ45 port carries the four-wire balanced signal while two BNC connectors present the transmit and receive coax pair, so PDH gear, DDF panels and SDH nodes can be linked over ordinary Cat5 twisted pair instead of twin coax. The unit is passive, epoxy sealed and requires no power or configuration.

75 Ohm to 120 Ohm Impedance Conversion
  • Converts G.703 75 Ohm unbalanced coax into 120 Ohm balanced twisted pair with matched transformer coupling.
  • Return loss better than 18dB and insertion loss under 1.0dB keep the E1 2.048Mbps pulse mask within ITU-T G.703 tolerance.
  • Two BNC connectors map TX and RX coax lines to one 8P8C RJ45 port wired on pins 1/2 and 4/5.
  • Transformer isolation blocks ground loops between sites and protects port cards from potential differences on the coax shield.
Deployment Scenarios
  • Connects E1 routers, PBX trunks, PDH multiplexers and SDH nodes to Cat5 / Cat6 structured cabling.
  • Extends a 120 Ohm E1 drop from the telecom demarcation to the equipment room over existing UTP.
  • Suits base station transmission, railway and utility SCADA links, and legacy voice network refurbishment.
  • Compact housing installs in a DDF frame, wall box or directly behind the equipment without rack space.
Quality and OEM Options
  • Epoxy potted transformer, gold plated BNC centre pin and nickel plated shell for long term oxidation resistance.
  • 100 percent transmission tested with an E1 BER tester before packing, bit error rate better than 1E-10.
  • Custom RJ45 pinout, housing colour, laser logo and private label packaging from 200 pieces.
  • Typical lead time 7 working days for stock models, 15 to 20 days for customized builds.
