Product Description
G.703 Balun Converter with 1.6/5.6 Coax and Metal Housing
This single port G.703 balun converter presents two 1.6/5.6 coax connectors on the unbalanced side and one 120 Ohm RJ45 port on the balanced side, so equipment wired with the European 1.6/5.6 interface can be patched straight into structured twisted-pair cabling. The zinc alloy shell closes the shield around the transformer and terminates it to a dedicated grounding tab, which keeps the 2.048Mbps pulse shape clean on long rack backplanes. No power, no settings, no firmware.
1.6/5.6 Coax Interface
Two 1.6/5.6 connectors follow IEC 61169-13 and mate with the standard patch cords used across European PDH estates
Snap-lock coupling holds the plug under vibration without the threaded collar found on 1.0/2.3 types
Gold plated centre contacts and a beryllium copper outer spring maintain contact force after repeated patching
Metal Housing and Shielding
Zinc alloy shell with a screw grounding tab bonds the coax shield to the rack earth, removing potential differences between bays
Full metal enclosure suppresses radiated interference from adjacent transmission equipment inside the cabinet
Transformer isolation of 500V DC between coax and twisted pair blocks ground loop current between buildings
Transmission Quality
Insertion loss below 1.0dB and return loss above 18dB keep the E1 signal inside the ITU-T G.703 pulse mask
Tested channel by channel with an E1 bit error rate tester, BER better than 1E-10 over 300m Cat5
Custom RJ45 pinout, cable length matching and laser marking available from 200 pieces
Technical Specifications
Product Type Passive G.703 balun converter, 75 to 120 Ohm

Search Terms and Alternative Names
Buyers and engineers describe this item in several ways. The same unit is ordered as E1 Balun, G.703 Balun, Passive E1 Balun or E1 Coaxial Balun. All of these names refer to the passive G.703 75 Ohm to 120 Ohm converter described above: coax on one side, balanced twisted pair on the other, no power supply and no configuration. If your tender documents or BOM use any of these terms, quote this model directly and we will ship the matching version.
